Description
East African Crude Oil Pipeline is hiring a Communications Officer responsible for coordinating, and implementing strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, media relations, and public affairs activities that promote and protect the Company’s reputation, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and enhance awareness and understanding of project activities among internal and external audiences.

Reports to: Communications Lead and works closely with all other departments.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the Corporate Affairs events calendar, meeting minutes including appropriate recording and archiving of documents
Charged with the day to day coordination of activities between the department and other departments, agencies/production houses and /related services providers to ensure timely fulfillment of deliverablesSupport the development and implementation of integrated internal and external communications strategies, plans, campaigns, and communication calendars.
Deliver planned, consistent, and impactful communication campaigns across multiple channels.
Ensure communication messages are timely, clear, accurate, audience-focused, and aligned with the Company’s objectives and tone of voice.
Create engaging multimedia content including news articles, blogs, social media posts, announcements, newsletters, videos, photography, and other communication materials in line with the Company’s Brand charter.
Coordinate documentation of project activities in multimedia formats and oversee content production processes.
Support communications and design agencies, and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of communication products.
Review and edit content produced by internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistency and quality.
Support the preparation and distribution of press releases and media statements.
Respond to media inquiries upon management approval.
Organize press conferences, media briefings, interviews, and site visits.
Support community engagement activities, including meetings, community initiatives, commemorations, and other activities.
Coordinate and facilitate visits to project sites.
Collect stakeholder feedback and prepare reports to support improved stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
Prepare reports and recommendations to improve communication effectiveness and stakeholder satisfaction.
Receive, register, acknowledge, and route incoming correspondence, requests, and inquiries.
Respond to stakeholder and partner communications through email and other communication platforms.
Plan, coordinate, and manage corporate events, campaigns, community activities, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
Ensure successful execution of events that enhance project visibility, support, and goodwill among stakeholders.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Digital Communications

Ensure innovative communication tools and digital platforms are developed, maintained, and regularly updated.
Responsible for growing and managing  the Company’s digital communication channels and media platforms.
Support intranet management and utilization of digital communication tools.
Develop and implement digital communication campaigns and monitor their effectiveness.
Contribute to the planning and implementation of policies, procedures and practices to maximize the effectiveness of the company’s digital media channels
Carry out other general communications and marketing tasks that may arise in the Communications Team
 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in corporate communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience in communications planning, campaign management, and media relations.
Proven experience in content development, publication management, and multimedia production.
Experience managing events, stakeholder engagement initiatives, and communication agencies.
Experience in client relations, protocol management, or travel coordination is an added advantage.
Experience within the oil and gas, infrastructure, energy, or related sectors is desirable.
Skills & Competences

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong media writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
Strong understanding of communication strategies, tools, and best practices.
Knowledge of digital communications, social media management, and multimedia platforms.
Strong organizational, planning, scheduling, and project management skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong stakeholder engagement, networking, and relationship management skills.
Excellent customer service, active listening, and people skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital communication tools.
Ability to work effectively in remote and field-based environments.
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
Proficiency in Luganda, Runyoro, Runyankole, or other local languages is an added advantage
