Job Summary:
The East African Development Bank (EADB) seeks an experienced, strategic, and results-oriented Director – Strategy and Innovation to lead the review, alignment, and implementation of the Bank’s corporate strategy. The successful candidate will drive strategic planning, business transformation, innovation, and performance management to support sustainable lending growth, effective capital utilization, and the Bank’s regional development mandate.
Key responsibilities include leading corporate strategy reviews, translating strategic priorities into annual business plans and budgets, coordinating the implementation of strategic initiatives, and monitoring performance against established targets. The role also involves developing corporate scorecards, measuring development impact, strengthening data governance, and building the Bank’s analytics capabilities to support evidence-based decision-making. The Director will lead and mentor the Strategy and Innovation team, collaborate with senior management and country offices, and prepare strategic performance reports for the Board, its committees, and funding partners.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
A Master’s degree in Strategic Management, Organisational Development, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, Data Science, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
At least 10 years of progressive experience in corporate strategy, strategy delivery, or corporate performance, including at least five years in a senior leadership role.
Demonstrated experience delivering strategy, transformation, or turnaround initiatives with measurable results.
Experience in business planning and budgeting within a bank or financial institution, including collaboration with Finance and Treasury on capital, liquidity, and funding plans.
Experience using data and analysis to guide strategic decisions, building analytics capabilities, and preparing reports for senior management and Boards.
Strong strategic thinking, financial analysis, leadership, project management, stakeholder engagement, communication, and performance-monitoring skills.
Professional qualifications such as CFA, ACCA, or CPA, and relevant certifications in strategy, innovation, project management, data analytics, or performance management, are added advantages. Experience in development finance, multilateral development banks, strategy consulting, and engagement with government shareholders across multiple countries is desirable.

Reporting to: Senior Director, Research Strategy and Innovation.
